Persecuted Church

Register here for the Persecuted Church event November 4, 2017

If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. (I Corinthians 12:26–27)

Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. (Hebrews 13:3)

This month, nearly 350 Christians will be killed because they follow Jesus. Over 200 Christian churches will be destroyed by bombings or arson. Somewhere around 800 believers will be raped, tortured, or thrown in jail because they name the name of Christ. The persecution of Christians is on the increase worldwide. According to the U.S. State Department, Christians in 60 countries face religious persecution either by their neighbors or their own governments. Some persecution is at the hands of paramilitary regimes or Islamic terrorist groups, and in other cases it is carried out by oppressive secular governments.

How should Christians respond when our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world are undergoing such fierce opposition and suffering?

Briarwood will host a special persecuted church event co-sponsored by Oak Mountain and Covenant Presbyterian Churches at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning, November 4, to help us all know how to respond more effectively. Please click the link here or above to register your desire to join us.

Please be in prayer for our persecuted brothers and sisters.
