A reminder of the May 31 Memorial Day Dinner highlights our cover this week, along with a reminder that there’s one week left to register online for VBS 2018. June Cork tells us of summer opportunities with Special Connections Ministry in the article of the week, and you’ll find reminders of the Men’s summer studies and the Counseling Conference coming June 29. There are two new employment opportunities listed, along with over 20 other timely announcements, so click here to see this week’s edition now!
While Pastor Reeder is away in the Holy Land, we will hear a message from Dr. Mark Cushman in the morning services, “Leading in Prayer” from Acts 4:23–31. Rev. Phil Reddick brings us the evening message at 6:00 p.m., “When Doubts Arise” from Jeremiah 29 and 32. We will also observe the Lord’s Supper in the evening service. Come join us, and hear these two outstanding men of God bring us His Word! Click here to read this Sunday’s Worship Bulletin.
Dr. Jack Hawkins, Marine combat veteran and Chancellor of Troy University, will be our speaker May 31 at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear a great speaker while honoring our veterans and those who gave their lives in service to our country. Proceeds go to assisting local veterans and preparing care packages for our deployed soldiers. Please RSVP to 918.7976 or at supportoursoldiersalabama.org.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
All children who will be in K5–6th grade next year are invited to Briarwood’s VBS, June 4–8. Come for skits, songs, crafts, and tons of fun! The theme for this year is “Under Construction,” as we learn about Nehemiah and building good character. It’s free, and you can register online right here by May 31.
Briarwood’s Counseling Ministry presents “Trending Issues in Biblical Counseling” June 29–30, here at Briarwood. Speakers include Drs. Howard Eyrich and Stephen Cloud, among others, with a list of topics that target today’s issues. You’ll want to see all the information on this special conference and register, too, by clicking here. Hurry… the deadline for registration is June 1.
The warmer weather tells us summer is coming, and that means it’s time for making those summer plans for children. Why not make summer fun a time for spiritual growth, too? We’ve assembled on one webpage the many activities here at Briarwood for children and youth, K5 through 12th grade, to help you do just that. Click here to see the list, and begin making your plans (and reservations) now!
Briarwood’s Women of the Covenant Ministry has many opportunities this summer to learn, fellowship and grow in the Lord. You’re invited to visit our webpage and see what is available under Discipleship, Community Building, Outreach, and Leadership Development. And sign up right now for a Summer Fellowship Group now forming in your area.

Briarwood’s audio archives contain nearly 40 years of sermons and lessons taught by Founding Pastor, Dr. Frank Barker. To begin the process of making these available we are uploading Dr. Barker’s expositional teachings on various books of the Bible. These may be found on iTunes, where you can even subscribe in order to automatically receive new files as they are added. To locate them, search “Dr. Frank Barker” in iTunes, or click the link you’ll find at briarwood.org/barkerteaching.
