Signing for the Hard-of-Hearing

Briarwood reaches out to the hard-of-hearing community each Sunday in our 8:00 a.m. Sunday worship service. This service is “signed” each and every Sunday morning, allowing the hard-of-hearing to enjoy worship with the entire congregation while meeting new friends in a loving atmosphere. Invite those you know who would benefit from this service, or if you are hard-of-hearing, you are invited to join us every Sunday morning at 8:00!

In addition, Briarwood offers three signing classes on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m.:

Beginner Class — Lillie Smith — A205
Learn 400 signs (with daily practice), introduction to deaf culture, and be able to communicate using basic signs.

Intermediate Class I — Carole Grimes — A210
Builds on Beginner’s Class. Learn 400 additional signs (with daily practice) with increased exposure to and communication with the deaf community.

Intermediate Class II — Dr. Sharon Berry — A202
Builds on Intermediate Class I. Learn 400 additional signs (with daily practice) while continuing to increase exposure and communication skills with the deaf community.
