Ministry Partner Outreach

Please consider how you can volunteer to serve some of our local ministry partners this summer! See the opportunities below for ways you, your family, and/or your Sunday School class can be a blessing in our community:

Restoration Academy—Fairfield
There are building preparation needs throughout the summer in order to get the school ready for a safe start in the fall. This would include but not be limited to:
— moving furniture
— waxing floors
— painting
— installing furniture/desks
— installing safety features for new COVID protocols
— deep cleaning

Contact Brian Goessling at bgoessling@restorationacademy.org to set up a time to volunteer.

Grace House—Fairfield
— Help with lawn care: during the summer, groups of volunteers are needed every week to keep the 8 properties maintained. This is a very critical need because they don’t budget for any professional lawn service and all of the work is done by volunteers. Additional details and sign up here: http://bit.ly/ghgreenteam.

— Organize meal drop offs: You can choose to sponsor any number/combination of homes. There are currently 2 homes with 10 girls and 2 homes with 4 girls. Additional details and sign up here: https://bit.ly/2ygahD1.

— Organize a toiletry/household supply drive: items needed include paper towels, toilet paper, bottled water, toothpaste, body wash, etc. A comprehensive list of items can be obtained by contacting Katherine Connell at the email below.

— Make goody bags for each girl: These could be a mixture of essential items like toiletries and fun items like earrings, makeup, etc. You could also include prayer cards with each one to let the girls know how you are praying for them.

Contact Katherine Connell at katherine@grace-house.org  or 205-999-1407 to volunteer.

Hope Health Center—Fairfield
— Landscaping: need plants, weeding, trimming and regular upkeep on an ongoing basis.

— Administrative help: data entry, insurance checks for the patients, and other administrative duties

— Volunteer nurses and medical assistants: This would involve a minimum of a 6 month commitment; training is provided.

Contact Tom Edwards at tedwards@hopehealthcenter.org to volunteer.

Child Evangelism Fellowship—Birmingham
— Host a 5-day Backyard Club July 6–10. You invite the neighborhood kids ages 5-12 and provide water bottles and a packaged snack (popsicles work great) and CEF will do the rest! CEF certified and trained summer missionaries will come out each day Monday through Friday for 60–90 min and play games, teach bible stories, missions stories, and songs with the kids. The club is free and parents are welcome to attend. Social Distancing safety guidelines will be followed.

— Help drive the summer missionaries to their bible clubs for a day or two or the whole week. Summer dates for clubs are July 6–10, and July 13–17.

— Lend your pop up tent to use for the hour teaching time at a YMCA or Rec Center. It would be taken down immediately following the end of club time each day.

Contact Kara Lancaster at karajlancaster@gmail.com or 205-602-8185 for more information or to sign up to help.
