COVID-19 Community Outreach

We are joining together with love for our neighbors to minister to those who are in need in Birmingham, our country and the world. Please read over the different opportunities to serve and give listed below and prayerfully consider how you can be a part of caring for those who have been most impacted by the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Briarwood Disaster Relief Fund
The Briarwood Presbyterian Church Disaster Relief Fund is open. All financial gifts designated for Disaster Relief will be distributed to local and national organizations to minister to those in need due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Checks sent to the church should be made to Briarwood and designated to “Disaster Relief Fund.”

Community Food Drive
Items donated will go to help feed those in need in the Birmingham Metro area.
Hours: Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Sunday 7:45 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Location: Briarwood Presbyterian Church, 2200 Briarwood Way, Birmingham, AL 35243 — Trailer is located in church Parking Lot B
Items to Donate: Canned chicken, canned tuna, canned vegetables, canned beans, rice, oatmeal, cereal, boxed macaroni and cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, pop-tarts, breakfast bars

Volunteer to Feed the Needy
Briarwood Presbyterian Church is partnering with Christian Service Mission (CSM) to distribute food to families in need in the Birmingham area. Volunteers are needed to pack food boxes for distribution.

Location: Christian Service Mission – 3600 3rd Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35222

Details:
• Volunteer as an Individual or Groups of 10 or less
• CSM allots designated days and times for needed volunteers.
• Volunteers can serve one (two hour) shift. Days and times available to volunteer are Monday or Thursday 1–3 p.m. and Tuesday or Friday 9–11 a.m.
• Must be 15 yrs. of age or older. Children ages 15–17 must be accompanied by a parent.
• Individuals must have been well and fever-free for the last fourteen days, have had no known exposure to COVID-19, and no recent travel internationally or to a high risk region. Questions will be asked in detail by CSM.
• Social distancing and sanitary measures are adhered to at CSM work sites.

Giving to Christian Service Ministry

Samaritan’s Purse is a national and international mission’s partner with Briarwood Presbyterian Church. Support given directly to Samaritan’s Purse will go to serve those in need in our nation and internationally. Samaritan’s Purse has recently set up much needed field hospitals in NYC and Italy.
