Gathered Worship Plan
Briarwood Church Family,
Grace and Peace to you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! On Friday, May 8 our Governor updated the “Safer At Home” order and effective May 11 churches may gather of any size under strict social distancing protocols maintaining six foot distance between persons from different households. Under the new order organizers of church gatherings are strongly encouraged to implement the Alabama Department of Public Health’s “Guidelines for Places of Worship” which we are using as our starting point for seeking to provide a safe environment for gathered worship in this next phase.
Beginning Sunday, May 17, we will implement our Interim Worship Plan C which includes offering sixty-minute morning worship services at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. In order to effectively social distance in three morning worship services we are assigning Congregational Communities to one of these three morning services. Below you will see the assignments for each class and our protocols regarding strict social distancing. Out of love for one another and a desire to serve one another we ask that you follow these parameters. We will continue to provide our online streaming schedule on Sunday mornings at 8:00 and 11:00 during this phase for those who choose and need to continue participating from home.
We very much love and appreciate our church family members 65 or older and all who are especially at high risk to the Coronavirus and as much as we look forward to seeing you and gathering together in worship with you we strongly encourage you to continue to participate in our services online at this time. If someone in your household is at high risk please make wise decisions about participating in large gatherings for their protection. Obviously, if you are sick or have been sick within 48 hours of Sunday morning please stay home and recover fully. If someone in your household is sick or has been within 48 hours of Sunday please stay home to care for them and protect others.
In order for us to maintain social distancing we will have seven entrances and exits open for you so that you will be able to go from the parking lot to a pew without touching anything. Since our Health Department is strongly encouraging the use of face coverings, if you do not have one, we will provide disposable masks at each entrance along with hand sanitizer. In order to effectively provide three morning services we strongly request that you make your way in from the parking directly to an open pew. We will provide five minutes of preparation for worship during our prelude before each service begins. The closed pews (two pew separation in Worship Center) have been marked off by ribbon. Also it is important that you go directly to your cars when the service is complete in order for us to be able to sanitize the Worship Center and prepare for the next service.
During this Interim Worship Plan C our Nursery will remain closed. However, we will provide strict social distancing Children’s Worship during the 9:30 and 11:00 service. If you desire for your children to participate please park on the Children’s Auditorium side of the church and take them directly to the Children’s Auditorium when you arrive. If you prefer, your children may sit with you in the service.
Thank you in advance for helping us and serving one another by embracing these protocols at this time. We thank The Lord for allowing us to begin the process of gathering together in worship.
May God and God Alone be Glorified!

Defining “Strict Social Distancing” at Briarwood
If you are sick or someone in your household is sick please stay home and participate via streaming.
If you are at high risk to the Coronavirus or someone in your household is at high risk please stay home and participate via streaming.
When arriving at church, please allow an open parking space between your car and any others.
Please maintain 6’ of separation at all times with anyone not living in your household.
Please feel free to bring and wear your facial coverings. We will provide disposable face coverings at each entrance.
Please use the Hand Sanitizers available at all seven open entrances and exits—Worship Center Front, Worship Center East Side, Administration, Accounting, Shipping & Receiving, Ministries Lobby and Chapel.
Please make your way directly to an open pew from the parking lot when arriving and directly back to your car as soon as the service concludes.
Although it is recommended by our health department that churches leave every other pew empty, we have opened every third pew creating two pews (or six feet) of separation for everyone’s protection. Two or more members of the same household can sit next to one another as long as there is six feet of separation on either side of them as a group.
The Nursery will remain closed during this phase.
We will provide strict social distancing Children’s Worship during the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services.
There will be no water fountains available for use and we will have two sets of restrooms (Worship Center Lobby & Library Hallway) available if necessary.
The Worship Center and restrooms will sanitized between services.
