Meet Mrs. Laura Bell!
Laura began her dance training at Briarwood Ballet at the age of 5. Throughout her years of training she attended classes at Ballet Magnificat’s Summer Intensives and at the age of 13 she danced with the Royal Ballet’s program in London, England for the summer. During her years of dancing she enjoyed the performing opportunities, but deep down she knew that her love was for teaching. Her teaching career began in September of 1995 when Laura was offered her first teaching opportunity by Barbara Barker. She has been on staff at Briarwood Ballet since that time. Laura also runs Praise Him Ballet at some local daycares for those who can’t get to classes at Briarwood Ballet.

I’m so grateful for you, Laura Scherf Bell❤️❤️❤️
Forever grateful for this giving soul! Blessings Laura in caring for the little ones all around you year to year! And blessing to you for (always with a smile and good heart) serving the visions I would bring to productions (no matter how seeming crazy or impossible) to come about... glory to God! ~ K

Meet Mrs. Claudia Butler!
Claudia Butler immigrated from Germany to Huntsville, AL when her father joined Werner Von Braun and the NASA space flight endeavor of the 1960’s. Claudia started dancing at the early age of 5 at Elekes Studio of Dance in Huntsville, where she began student teaching while a young teen. Several trips to New York City gave Claudia the opportunity to further her education at Dance Masters of America conventions and taking classes at the American Ballet Theater. Claudia’s interests changed during college, and after receiving a bachelor of science in nursing, she began her career as a nurse working at Brookwood Medical Center. During that time, Claudia and her husband began attending Briarwood Presbyterian Church where she met Barbara Barker, who asked her to come on board the ballet ministry as a staff member. Claudia taught alongside Barbara Barker for many years, who she credits for teaching her everything she needed to know about instructing young children in not only the art of ballet, but also how to use their God given ballet talents to honor and serve the Lord. Claudia has also worked as a staff choreographer for NarrowWay productions, MoTowne Productions, Briarwood’s High School theater department, has been on staff at Dance South Studios, and operates Butler Studios, LLC, where she has taught many dance genres, including beginner ballroom dancing with her husband. This is Claudia’s 32nd year at Briarwood Ballet.
