Fall Studies Schedule
MONDAY
“THE BOOK OF DANIEL”
Meets: Mondays at 10:00 AM
Location: A201 and Zoom
Leader: Michele Cantley
Starts: September 11
Study Overview: The Book of Daniel (10-week study) teaches us that God is in control. In Daniel, we see God protecting Daniel and his friends as they live in exile in Babylon. Despite the fact that God had said in Jeremiah 7:15 that he would remove the people of Judah from his presence, God continues to protect his people through Daniel. God gifts Daniel with the ability to understand visions and dreams, which plays a critical role in the lives of the Babylonian kings. In later chapters of the book, Daniel is granted amazing visions about the future which God will orchestrate.
TUESDAY
“1 & 2 PETER (Part 1)”
Meets: Tuesdays at 9:30 AM
Location: Fellowship Hall A
Leader: Cindy Reeder and Mary Lou Morrison
Starts: September 5
Study Overview: Peter’s epistles are a rallying cry for hope. Written to a young church facing intensifying persecution, they showcase the living hope of the gospel even when living through trials and tribulation. Through this 10-week study, Lydia Brownback explores the theme of suffering in Peter’s letters, displaying how God uses hope, humility, and holiness to prepare believers for their final home in heaven.
(This study will be covered over 2 semesters: Fall 2023 and Spring 2024)
Required Book: 1-2 Peter: Living Hope in a Hard World by Lydia Brownback
“THE BOOK OF MICAH”
Meets: Tuesdays at 9:30 AM
Location: G101
Leaders: Mary Anne Turnbull and Amanda Peterson León
Starts: September 5
Study Overview: The prophet Micah lived in dark times and often seemed to be a lone voice as he faithfully proclaimed God’s word to a godless society full of corruption and religious compromise. He brought a message warning of judgement to come. Yet at the same time he also preached a message of hope, pointing his hearers forward to the coming of Christ and to the future glories which await the true people of God. Micah and the faithful remnant to whom he ministered are an example and encouragement to us all to live the life of the next age in this present age and to trust God’s promises, however dark our circumstances may appear, in the assurance that He has a glorious future yet to come for His church.
Recommended Book: Micah: EP Study Commentary by Dale Ralph Davis

Meets: Wednesdays at 6:30 PM
Location: G101 and Zoom
Leader: Kristie Harrick and Elizabeth Bondurant
Starts: September 6
Study Overview: From David to Ahab, 1 Kings covers some of the most interesting times in the history of Israel. While we often struggle with the events and the issues of the book of 1 Kings, this study will guide us to understand the intentions of the author, the questions and issues raised in particular passages, and help explain the Scripture in an accessible way that makes sense for daily Christian living.
“A COMPLETION OF THE STUDY OF GENESIS”
Meets: Wednesdays at 6:30 PM
Location: M210
Leader: Teresa Caldwell
Starts: September 6
Study Overview: Living by Faith is the third and final volume on Genesis by James Montgomery Boice. Volume 1 focused on God’s relationship to the cosmos and to all peoples of the earth. Volume 2 traced the “new beginning” of God’s plan of redemption. In volume 3, Boice follows the complete story of Joseph, a “man for all seasons.” By exploring Joseph’s loyalty to God, Boice presents him as an example for Christians today.
Required Book: Genesis: Volume 3: Living by Faith (Genesis 37-50) by James Montgomery Boice

“THE RED SEA RULES”
Meets: Thursdays at 9:30 AM

“THE BOOK OF JOSHUA”
Meets: Thursdays at 9:30 AM
Location: G103
Leader: Yvonne Welch
Starts: September 7
Study Overview: Are you in the wilderness of defeat in your Christian life, or in the land of victory? Is your life a constant struggle against the powers of the enemy or is it a victorious war waged in the power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? We will look at the life of Joshua as he was able, through the power of the Lord God Jehovah, to overcome many difficult obstacles to claim the Promised Land for the Israelites. It is an exciting story of the power of our Lord God Jehovah and how he gave Joshua victory for the glory of God.
