Breakout Sessions

How Covenant Makes or Breaks Our Prayers Speaker: Linda Smedley

Perhaps you are wondering… What in the world does covenant have to do with my prayer life?! I suspect that most of us have given little or no thought to the relationship that exists between covenant and prayer. From beginning to end we see that the Bi-ble is all about the personal, covenantal relationship between God and man. Does this impact our prayers? Should it? What might it mean for the concept of covenant to either make or break our prayers? Might the concept of covenant disrupt the status quo of our prayer life? We have been adopted by a covenant making, covenant keeping God. Let’s explore together how this beautiful covenant relationship impacts our prayers – both individually and in community.

Forgiveness and Reconciliation in Light of Covenant Theology Speaker: Joy Moore

Forgiving is one of the hardest things a person has to do and reconciling in a meaningful way follows right behind. How does understanding covenant the-ology change how we see the scriptural insistence that we forgive one anoth-er? Could we live a lifestyle of forgiveness motivated by the costly covenantal forgiveness we’ve re-ceived? Let’s gather and talk about this critical topic.

God’s Covenant Plan of Salvation: Union with Christ Speaker: Vicki Portis

Before the beginning of time God’s covenant plan was to restore his chosen ones to himself through his Son. This plan was and is that his chosen people be saved through Christ and be united with Christ to God. Every stage of our salvation, including election, justification, sanctification, and glorification, is included in the doctrine of union with Christ. Union with Christ defines our identity. It is who we truly are. Rankin Wilbourne writes, “Nothing is more central to knowing and enjoying God than union with Christ. It’s the heart of the Christian faith. It’s what makes the gospel good news.” Join us as we explore a biblical understanding of union with Christ.

The Covenantal Thread of Redemption Speaker: Amanda Leon

How are the covenants made with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David connected to Jesus? What is the big deal about covenants, anyway? This ses-sion will seek to provide a grand summary of the Bible’s unfolding story of our covenant-making and covenant-keeping God. Learn how the covenants of the Old Testament help us to fully understand the New Covenant in Christ.

Raising Children to Raise Children Covenantally Speaker: Cierra Bragan

The evangelization and nurture of the church’s children has always been one of the greatest means of church growth. Join us as we examine God’s covenantal love and promises while also beseeching Him to bless our par-enting efforts and regenerate our children to impact generations for Christ.
