SUMMARY:WOC The Son of David Study
DESCRIPTION:THE SON OF DAVID \nRecommended for: Women of all ages \nStudy Overview: \nA study of the Old Testament historical books–Joshua through Esther–en- ables us to see the Kingdom of God not only as it once was\, but also as it is now\, and as it will be one day. Join us as we trace the history of the people of God from the time they entered the promised land through a series of failed kings\, exile\, and finally their return to await the true king. Gain a fresh perspective on Israel’s history and God’s kingdom\, a broader understanding of Jesus as the fulfillment of Scripture\, and much more as we see Jesus in the Old Testament. \nStudy Leader: Cindy Reeder \nStart Date: September 12 \nMeetings: Tuesdays at 9:30 A.M. • Briarwood FH-A \nAdditional Information: Light Reading • $14 Book • Childcare Available

SUMMARY:WOC Esther Study
DESCRIPTION:THE BOOK OF ESTHER \nRecommended for: Women of all ages \nStudy Overview: \nThe book of Esther unpacks the intriguing narrative of a Jewish woman and her cousin\, Mordecai\, who stayed behind in Persia following the exile–and how they were instrumental in saving God’s people in that place. With no mention of God anywhere in the book of Esther\, it nonetheless illustrates His sovereignty over all things and His faithfulness to His covenant promises. \nThe story of Esther is perfect guidance for us when we find ourselves in a situation where right and wrong are not so clearly defined and every choice we have seems to be a troubling mixture of good and bad. \nStudy Leader: Kristie Harrick \nStart Date: September 6 \nMeetings: Wednesdays at 6:30 P.M. • Briarwood M-111 \nAdditional Information: Light Homework • $16 Book • Childcare Available

SUMMARY:WOC Luke Study
DESCRIPTION:LESSONS IN LUKE \nRecommended for: Women of all ages who want to hear a message of hope that has stood the test of time. \nStudy Overview: \nIn his Gospel\, Luke the gentile physician provides an orderly\, investigated account of the historical life of Jesus. Luke carefully and selectively records Jesus’ miracles\, messages\, and ministry to the least\, the last\, and the lost. Luke looks beyond Jesus as Messiah for the Jews and sees Jesus as Savior of the world. Luke’s message is still good news for us today. Jesus is indeed the Savior of the World who has “come to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10 \nStudy Leader: Donna Evans \nStart Date: September 6 \nMeetings: Wednesdays at 6:30 P.M. • Briarwood M-202 \nAdditional Information: Moderate Homework • $8 Book • Childcare Available

Why does life so often seem unfair? Why doesn’t our all-powerful God stop the injustice and suffering for all His children? Is there some purpose in our pain? \nIn this six-week study\, we’ll examine what the Bible says about suffering and why God allows it. Through the stories of many who persevered through times of testing\, along with hope-filled scriptures\, we will discover how to find joy even when life seems unfair.
