BRIARWOOD WEEKLY ONLINE
This Sunday, October 26, is one you don’t want to miss here at Briarwood. Reformation Sunday is a day of recognition for the birth of the Protestant Church. Included will be special music, the reading of the Solas of the Reformation and Pastor Reeder’s message, “Sola Scriptura,” the 13th in his Contending and Defending the Faith series. Our evening message will be from Rev. Seth Richardson, “A People of Hope,” from Titus 2.
This Sunday, October 26 also begins Briarwood’s annual Every Member Commitment, with a convocation service for all adults and youth during the Sunday School hour in the Worship Center. This is an upbeat, exciting meeting to inform and encourage members and visitors regarding the work God is doing in and through Briarwood. Click here for the full schedule, and make your plans to attend!
Briarwood will host this special 2-day conference November 7 and 8, with over 40 different workshops on four different tracks: church, family, education and outreach. There will be a free Friday night concert and keynote speakers Emily Colson and Stephanie Hubach will be featured. Don’t miss hearing these writers and parents share about disability ministry from their hearts! Click here for information and to register.
Join us November 9–10 as we welcome Westminster Theological Seminary for The Real State of the Union. We’ll discuss faith, culture, politics and the intersection between the three. In thinking well about current issues of challenge to the Church, we hope to offer insight and motivation as people seek to be salt and light to an onlooking city, nation and world. Coming December 10–12, this Birmingham tradition is made possible by over 800 church members volunteering their time every year as setup crew, greeters, dressers, actors, and a variety of other positions all designed to make our guests welcome while telling them the good news of our Lord and Savior, come to earth. Early November is the time for these two outreach ministries to begin their work to give children hope at Christmas by remembering them with a gift. Booths for Christmas Child shoeboxes will be in the lobbies October 26 and November 2 and 9, and look for the Angel Trees in the lobbies November 9 and 16.
