Prison Ministry

Briarwood Presbyterian Church began a prison ministry in 1978. Its mission is to provide a multi-faceted model of programs and services based on principles of biblical justice in order to equip churches to reach victims, offenders and their families. Our goal is to successfully reintegrate victims, prisoners, and their families (who have resolved their conflict into safe communities) and to build the Kingdom of God. This is accomplished through the church as it becomes “salt and light” and impacts crime by restoring “shalom” (peace) and safety to the community.

Alabama Justice Ministries – provide services necessary to assist ex-offenders to best gain and retain employment opportunities.

Angel Tree – sponsor children of prisoners for Christmas and to attend day and over-night summer camp. Here’s a video about the Angel Tree campaign:

Bibb County Correctional Facility – instruct inmates in Basic Christianity, spiritual disciplines, character and goal setting, critical thinking using Transformation Ministries, Prison Fellowship.

Donaldson Correctional Facility – conduct numerous Bible studies, long-distance Dad program, and ministry to prison workers.

Shepherd’s Fold – help men to establish personal discipline, gain employment and live free of destructive habits and negative influences.
